Virtual Visit

We absolutely loved our virtual visit with Monique Gray Smith. From the very first moments, Monique created a warm, welcoming space. Her message of hope was delivered in a way that was deeply meaningful and perfectly age-appropriate for our learners. She has a remarkable way of speaking to students with gentleness and honesty, while still honouring the depth of the ideas she shares.  Students were especially drawn to her personal stories and the way she wove her own life experiences into the visit. The idea of being “Cookie People” really stayed with them — it gave them a simple, memorable way to think about kindness, connection, and how we treat one another. Monique’s invitation to notice and connect with nature felt like a natural extension of her storytelling. She encouraged students to slow down, look closely, and build relationships with the world around them in ways that felt both accessible and profound.

This visit was more than an author talk — it was a shared experience that left our students feeling hopeful, thoughtful, and inspired. We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn with Monique and would highly recommend her virtual visits to any school community.

It was a joy to host Monique for a campus visit. Monique did a wonderful job connecting with the students and provided valuable insight into her writing process. Starting the talk with a video from nature was a powerful reminder to slow down and regulate one's nervous system. We loved hearing about her writing process.
